
ASSOCIATE (PASTORAL) (LAY) MEMBER
All Lay persons without previous training are required
to begin at this level. Ministers who are recognized below the Licensed Minister level must also begin at this level. All
persons who begin here must demonstrate interest in and have a desire to obtain knowledge of Christian Counseling. A person
at this level should not attempt any counseling, but merely assist or sit in with one who is trained in the field of counseling.
Three required courses must be completed before the Lay Member Candidate may advance to the next Lay or Pastoral level. The
required courses can be acquired at any institution recognized by the AACT or can be taken at the International College of
Christian Therapy, the external studies division of the AACT. This level of membership requires a Pastor or spiritual Elder
with knowledge of counseling to act as mentor for the Lay Candidate. The candidate must determine at this juncture if he/she
is going to pursue the Pastoral or Lay tract. This person must also be recommended by his/her pastor. Membership fee - $29.00
per year.
ADVANCED PASTORAL MEMBER
A candidate for this certificate must be a Licensed Minister with the appropriate training or completed the Biblical
knowledge test offered by various Fellowships or Denominations. This level of membership requires a Pastor or spiritual Elder
with knowledge of counseling to act as Mentor for the Associate Pastoral Member. The Mentor must certify that the candidate
for this level will be supervised at least FOUR (4) hours each month. Membership fee - $44.00 per year.
A candidate for this certificate must be a recognized leader
in his/her Church or Minister available to assist the Pastor with the needs of the congregation. He/She should have sought
or agree to seek the appropriate training to better assist his/her pastor in counseling with the congregation or members of
ministry. This level of membership requires a Pastor or spiritual Elder with knowledge of counseling to act as mentor for
the Associate Pastoral Member. The Mentor must certify that the candidate for this level will be supervised at least FOUR
(4) hours each month. Membership fee - $44.00 per year.

CERTIFIED ADVANCED
PASTORAL COUNSELOR
This level requires a Bachelor of Art or Science degree
in Theology, Religion, Ministry, Counseling, or Education. This level requires one to be at least a Licensed Minister
in a recognized fellowship or denomination. A Mentor skilled in counseling is recommended here but not required, but the Certified
Advanced Pastoral Counselor must demonstrate proficiency in counseling skills. A Mentor or another qualified person must document
that the Certified Advanced Pastoral Counselor has FOUR (4) hours of supervision each month. A Masters Degree in Theology,
Religion, Ministry, Counseling, or Education must be completed before one may advance to the next level of certification.
Certification fee - $54.00
CERTIFIED ADVANCED
CHRISTIAN COUNSELOR
This level requires a Bachelor of Art or Science degree
in Psychology, Social Work, Religion, Counseling, or Education. This level requires one to be very involved in his/her
local church preferably to the level of Deacon or Elder or Board Member (There are a variety of titles depending on what the
local church, ministry, or fellowship determines is the scriptural title to be used). A Mentor (or Pastor) skilled in counseling
is recommended here but not required, but the Certified Advanced Lay Counselor must demonstrate proficiency in counseling
skills. A Mentor or another qualified person must document that the Certified Advanced Lay Counselor has FOUR (4) hours of
supervision each month. Certification fee - $54.00 per year.
CERTIFIED CLINICAL
PASTORAL THERAPIST &
LICENSED CLINICAL
PASTORAL THERAPIST
The Certified Clinical Pastoral Therapist level requires
an earned Masters Degree in Counseling, Theology, Ministry, Education, or Christian Education from an educational institution
approved or recognized by the AACT. A person qualified for this level should be an Ordained Minister in a recognized
fellowship, ministry, or denomination. A Certified Clinical Pastoral Therapist must demonstrate proficiency in counseling
skills and must receive from a qualified person at least TWO (2) hours of supervision each month. An earned Doctor of Theology,
Religion, Ministry, Counseling, Christian Counseling, Education, or Christian Education must be completed before one may advance
to the next level of certification. If Certification fee - $59.00 per year. If one wishes to receive a Licensed Clinical
Pastoral Therapist certificate the Certification fee is also $59.00, but one must hold an earned Doctoral Degree.
The
person who has been granted the level of Certified Clinical Pastoral Counselor should annually be involved in a continuing
education course or working in a Doctoral program. If a person is not engaged in a doctoral program he/she may wish to specialize
in a specific area of counseling
CERTIFIED CLINICAL
CHRISTIAN THERAPIST &
LICENSED CLINICAL
CHRISTIAN THERAPIST
The Certified Clinical Christian Therapist level requires
an earned Masters Degree in Counseling, Christian Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education or Christian Education from
an educational institution approved or recognized by the AACT. A person qualified for this level should be a professional
on staff in a local church or a counseling center. A Certified Clinical Christian Therapist must demonstrate proficiency in
counseling skills and must receive from a qualified person at least TWO (2) hours of supervision each month. An earned Doctor
of Counseling, Christian Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Christian Education or Education must be completed before one
may advance to the next level of certification. . Certification fee - $59.00 per year. If one wishes to receive a Licensed
Clinical Christian Therapist certificate the Certification fee is $59.00 but one must have a Doctoral Degree.
The
person who has been granted the level of Certified Clinical Christian Counselor should annually be involved in a continuing
education course or working on their Doctors degree. If a person is not engaged in a doctoral program he/she may wish to specialize
in a specific area of counseling
LICENSED PROFESSIONAL
PASTORAL THERAPIST
The Licensed Professional Pastoral Therapist level requires
a Doctor of Theology, Religion, Ministry, Counseling, Christian Counseling, Christian Education, or Education from an educational
institution approved or recognized by the AACT. A person qualified for this level should be an Ordained Minister in
a recognized fellowship, ministry or denomination. A Licensed Professional Pastoral Therapist must demonstrate proficiency
in counseling skills but is not required to receive supervision each month. If the Minister at this level is able he/she should
be available to give supervision to other certified members of AACT. Certification fee - $69.00 per year.
The person
who has been granted the level of Licensed Professional Pastoral Therapist is encouraged to annually be involved in continuing
education.
LICENSED PROFESSIONAL
CHRISTIAN THERAPIST
The Licensed Professional Christian Therapist level requires
a Doctor of Counseling, Christian Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Christian Education or Education from an educational
institution approved or recognized by the AACT. A person qualified for this level should be on staff at a local church
or a counseling center. A person with this level of certification may wish to supervise other counselors and therapists in
his/her own counseling center. A Licensed Professional Christian Therapist must demonstrate proficiency in counseling skills
but is not required to receive supervision each month. If the Therapist at this level is able he/she should be available to
give supervision to other certified members of AACT. Certification fee - $69.00 per year
The person who has been granted
the level of Licensed Professional Christian Therapist is encouraged to annually be involved in continuing education.
